The Weekly Dime – Episode 70 – Love and Basketball

No Raf, no Evs, no problem! On episode 70th of the Dropping Dimes podcast Rod got a very special guest to join him on the pod, his girlfriend Ana! Ana is an environmental scientist, Raptors fan, and she shares an apartment with Rod’s jerseys errrrrr with Rod. Ana and Rod discuss the latest trades that saw Serge Ibaka going to the Clippers and Marc Gasol to the Lakers, Ana shared what it felt to see Serge leaving the Raptors and joining Kawhi and they both share their unfounded dislike for the Clippers (these two are meant for each other). Ana also tells us how Rod behaves when watching the Lakers, the challenges in decorating their apartment and what it is to live with someone that own more jerseys and sneakers than they really need. Basketball talk + relationship talk = A must listen episode!

The Weekly Dime – Ep. 63 – Second Round Commentary

Yes, not only do we give our thoughts about the second round of the playoffs but we also give you a taste of our in-game broadcasting skills (spoiler alert, they need a lot of work). While the boys discuss the best of the playoffs so far, they also gave a live rendition of what ended up being an incredibly exciting game between the Raptors and the Celtics. In case that’s not enough, you might want to stick around to hear Raf opening up about what gets to him when he’s away from home when he’s on a business trip.

The Two Cents Show – Ep. 04 with Duane Watson

We had the absolute pleasure of chatting with producer, director, writer, podcaster, analyst, storyteller, and dare we say pioneer of media basketball in Canada. The one and only Duane Watson!!! Over the course of our conversation, we had a chance to get to know Duane a lot more through basketball of course, for instance, we talked about his favourite team growing up, which player he most identifies with, his most prized basketball possession and more.

We then took Duane on a trip down memory lane to revisit his basketball journey, how he got to write for Hoop and SLAM, his first interviews with Canadian NBA players, his work with Raptors. Heck, we even talked about Duane being a road manager for a hip-hop band on a tour!

On the third section of the show we talked about Duane’s most recent projects, including Crown League and ‘Nique (which btw, you should subscribe right now). We then finished off our chat with a not-so-fast lightning round where we got Duane to pick between some touch choices.

We say this time and time again but really, trust us, this is an episode that you don’t want to miss!

The Two Cents Show – Ep. 02 with J.E. Skeets from No Dunks!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, Clipper bros and Beantown boys, you’re in for a treat this week. On the second episode of the Dropping Dimes’ Two Cents Show, we had the chance to talk with one and only, J.E. Skeets from the No Dunks podcast on The Athletic!
On the first section of the show, we got to know Skeets a bit more from a basketball perspective, his favourite shoes, his first jersey, etc. We then talked about Canada Basketball and the chances of Team Canada making it to the Olympics and the current class of Canadians in the NBA. We also asked Skeets some questions about his Toronto Raptors and played a little game called “Why can’t we be friends”.
Close to the end of the show, we followed up with Skeets on the No Dunks Squad episode and asked him if he had the chance to have a new NBA franchise in Vancouver what would he name the team, what the uniform might look like, what concession stand item would be sold in the arena and who would be the celebrity ambassador.

Ep. 03 – KaWHY?!?! Curses and Red Bull

After a long saga surrounded by mystery but mostly silence from Kawhi Leonard, we finally got some resolution in the form of the trade of the off-season.  What does this mean for the Raptors, was it the right move to send Demar to the Spurs?

We also talk about the WNBA All-Star Game, Carmelo Anthony going to the Rockets, and we make case to bring Red Bull on board as our sponsor (spoiler alert: our pitch doesn’t end well).
