Aren’t you tired of living through major historic events? A pandemic, murder hornets, climate change, and the Knicks being good again? On this episode, Rod and Raf talk (and apologize) to Knicks fans and RJ Barrett. The boys also discuss:
Russell Westbrook averaging a triple double and making it look casual
The Vivien Lakers Twitter scandal
Chris Paul passes Magic Johnson for 5th in all time assists
Kobe’s estate decides not to renew contract with Nike.
The Super League and the Basketball Champions League
How far would you go in order to guarantee your favourite team a title? Don’t ask Rod because it sounds like he would trade Raf and Evs to the basketball gods just to give LeBron James more years as a Laker. Sheesh! Talk about fandom…here are some other topics the boys went over:
MVP race. With Lebron, KD, and Embiid out with player will benefit from their absences?
Where will the Lakers land on the West after dealing with LBJ and AD injuries?
LaMarcus Aldridge joins the Nets and the expectations for Brooklyn.
Trade deadline. The Orlando Magic have a garage sale and Kyle Lowry stays put.
You know when you feel like the world is moving too fast and you’re running a bit late? Well, you’re not alone and just like the jerseys of 16 teams in the NBA, this episode is late but earned! Rod and Raf do a very late analysis of the All Star Game, the boys have an in-depth conversation about the earned edition jerseys which, as we found out, ended up being a trigger for Rod, and more!
New Year, New Episode! Rod and Raf go over this…particular…beginning of the NBA season. Should the Nuggets, Raptors, Heat, and Mavs be worried about their slow start? Will the Bucks and Lakers’ lacklustre performances affect them in the long run? The boys also set some new year resolutions for a few teams and players and Rod tests Raf’s NBA knowledge with a round of WHO HE PLAY FOR?
Ah yes, nothing like the NBA Season Preview to kick off the holiday season! On this episode, Rod and Raf predict which teams will make the playoffs in each conference, who will win the MVP, which teams might be the biggest disappointment and the boys share their biggest takes for the 2020-2021 season (Toronto fans, you’re going to like what Rod had to say about your city in this section)
For this episode, we have two very special guests to discuss this year’s edition of the NBA’s city jerseys. From thatniquelife, we are joined by Duane Watson and Craig White! Craig and Duane take us through the entire collection of city edition jerseys and they tell us which ones made their top 3 and which ones shouldn’t have made the cut (cough OKC *cough). What else can you expect from this episode, you ask? Well, here are some more reasons to listen to our new episode:
🎽The REAL reason why the Houston Rockets went for powder blue in their city uniforms 🦄Conspiracy theory on the Mavs white and gold jersey + a fantastic pitch on how to sell these jerseys 🪙The history behind the Hornets’ minty fresh new look 🎶Cool alternate uses of Phoenix’s new Valley jersey ❌The not so many reasons why The Beatles, Nirvana, and other bands are in Cleveland’s jersey 👔Rod and Raf’s abbreviated history of the NBA’s fashion icons
And a lot more! Trust us, you don’t want to miss this episode.
No Raf, no Evs, no problem! On episode 70th of the Dropping Dimes podcast Rod got a very special guest to join him on the pod, his girlfriend Ana! Ana is an environmental scientist, Raptors fan, and she shares an apartment with Rod’s jerseys errrrrr with Rod. Ana and Rod discuss the latest trades that saw Serge Ibaka going to the Clippers and Marc Gasol to the Lakers, Ana shared what it felt to see Serge leaving the Raptors and joining Kawhi and they both share their unfounded dislike for the Clippers (these two are meant for each other). Ana also tells us how Rod behaves when watching the Lakers, the challenges in decorating their apartment and what it is to live with someone that own more jerseys and sneakers than they really need. Basketball talk + relationship talk = A must listen episode!
Rod and Raf were in a comedic mood as they went through some of the trades that have happened so far in the NBA. The boys discuss whether Deandre Ayton will be the most yelled at player in the NBA now that Chris Paul is a member of the Valley Boys; did the Bucks pay too much to get Jrue Holiday (and BoBo) or will this squad will give Giannis and the Bucks their best chance at the title? As usual, Rod talks about his Lakers and their trade for Dennis Schroeder, the Lakers short pursuit of Demar DeRozan, and of course, the latest telenovela of the NBA, the House ton Rockets. All of this, plus some really bad jokes featuring Trevor ARITZIA on today’s episode of Dropping Dimes. Check it out!
On this edition of The Two Cents Show, we had the pleasure of chatting with LA-based artist and illustrator (drumroll, please) he’s heating up, he’s on fire, he’s Joe Shakalaka!!! We had a chance to ask Joe about his love for the game and how he ended up becoming a loyal Lakers fan. Joe also took us through his process and shared with us how he comes up with the incredible mash-ups he has created with video-game characters and NBA players, not to mention his super dope #90AirMax90 series and other illustrations he’s worked on. Rod wrapped up his convo with Joe with a special Lakers edition of the lightning round! Don’t forget to follow Joe and check out the amazing work he does!
If you ever thought Rod talked about the Lakers too much during previous episodes well, get ready because on this episode he makes sure that Raf and the world know that the LA Lakers are, once again, the NBA Champions. On this episode, Rod and Raf review the NBA Finals, the uphill battle the Heat had in front of them, LeBron’s amazing performance, AD’s versatility, Markieff’s blown pass, Danny Green getting death threats, and more. The duo also chat about Skip Bayless’ tweets on Lebron, will AD re-sign with the Lakers, and the boys give their waaaaaay too early predictions for next season. This was a long and strange NBA season so we want to take the chance to thank you all for your support. We’ll keep on working on more basketball content for all of you to enjoy!
