We already miss the Last Dance and we’re sure you miss it as well so, in honour of this fantastic documentary-series, we revisit the last four episodes of the docuseries. Rod and Raf discuss Pippen’s season in charge, how Steve Kerr handled the whole getting punch in the face situation, Michael’s comeback, and whether the Bulls would have been able to go for title #7 had they stayed together.
We had the absolute pleasure of chatting with producer, director, writer, podcaster, analyst, storyteller, and dare we say pioneer of media basketball in Canada. The one and only Duane Watson!!! Over the course of our conversation, we had a chance to get to know Duane a lot more through basketball of course, for instance, we talked about his favourite team growing up, which player he most identifies with, his most prized basketball possession and more.
We then took Duane on a trip down memory lane to revisit his basketball journey, how he got to write for Hoop and SLAM, his first interviews with Canadian NBA players, his work with Raptors. Heck, we even talked about Duane being a road manager for a hip-hop band on a tour!
On the third section of the show we talked about Duane’s most recent projects, including Crown League and ‘Nique (which btw, you should subscribe right now). We then finished off our chat with a not-so-fast lightning round where we got Duane to pick between some touch choices.
We say this time and time again but really, trust us, this is an episode that you don’t want to miss!
%FGM, Off REB., +/-, STL%, you’ve probably seen or at least heard about stats and the stats movement in the NBA and this week’s guest Dr. Rodrigo Vargas Hernandez joins us to shed a bit more light into science in basketball as well as data analytics and machine learning in the NBA. In the first section of the show, we get to know Dr. Vargas and his love for basketball and the Chicago Bulls. We then jumped right into science, how is basketball affected in every moment by science and how do advanced analytics and machine learning are being currently used by almost all NBA teams. We also discuss a scientific paper on basketball written by Andrew Miller, Luke Bornn, Ryan Adams, and Kirk Goldsberry. Last but certainly not least, we tried to predict the future of basketball (using science, of course!)
On the very first episode of The Two Cents Show we had a chance to interview Byron Abalos from the 6th Man Collective and Monday Nights. Byron shared with us how the 6th Man Collective came together and how they took a simple concept, playing a weekly pick-up game of basketball with your friends, to the stage. Byron also shared with us a bit of behind the scenes on how Monday Nights came to be where it is now and how they keep working on making it an inclusive basketball show for all audiences where they not only get to shoot a couple of hoops but they see themselves reflected in the actors and learn how basketball is a reflection of who we really are.
Rod and Evans welcome Raf back from his international adventure. The guys discuss the surprising news of Kenny Atkinson abruptly leaving the Nets, what might be behind that decision and is this Kyrie’s doing? The boys also chat about the Bucks, Raptors, and Lakers punching their ticket into the playoffs, Joakim Noah and Dion Waiters moving to Los Angeles, and just what in the world are the Knicks doing?!?! The boys also give a big shoutout to the important women in their lives.
On this episode of the Weekly Dime, Rod and Evans are joined by recording artist, Challenga! The guys discuss the feud between Giannis and James Harden,, should the Sixers be concerned about the injuries to their all-star players, and Tatum and Beal’s hot streak. In the last part of the show, the guys try to honour the No Dunks crew by doing their own version of the No Dunks SQUAD! Rod, Evans, and Challenga come up with the following categories for their “new” NBA franchises: city, , branding, front office, concession stand item, and celebrity ambassador. You don’t want to miss what the guys came up with!
If you ever wanted to hear some real hot takes from the crew this is the episode you’ve been waiting for. Rod and Evans discuss whether the Bucks are really for real or if they’ll have an early exit from the playoffs (again). Rod goes on a bit of rant and tries to make an argument for why the Clippers are playing the victim this season but also for why they should move out of LA! Last but not least, Rod and Evans predict the teams that will make the playoffs in a few weeks and where they will be placed on the standings.
After a couple of weeks off the boys are back and they’re dropping bars now!!! Not really but Rod and Evans did drop their thoughts and recap on this year’s NBA All-Star Weekend. Make sure you check it out!
